Boxing BC is proud to introduce the Post-Secondary Grant Program, a financial award created to support amateur boxers who excel in both athletics and academics. Each year, two deserving athletes – one male and one female will receive $1,000 to help offset the cost of post-secondary education.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicant must:
- Be a current, active Boxing BC member in good standing
- Be a registered competitive boxer for at least one year
- Hold Canadian citizenship or permanent residency
- Be accepted or enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution (college, university, trade, or technical school)
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to both education and boxing
- Exhibit leadership, sportsmanship, and community engagement
How to Apply
Applicants must submit:
- A completed application form
- A 500 – 750 word personal statement covering:
a. Your boxing journey and achievements
b. Educational and career goals
c. Personal growth through boxing
d. Community involvement or mentorship experience - Two letters of recommendation (including one from a coach or Boxing BC official)
- Proof of enrollment or acceptance at a post-secondary institution
Key Dates
- Applications Open: July 15, 2025
- Deadline to Apply: August 15, 2025
- Internal Review: August 16 – 31 (eligibility checked by staff)
- Selection Committee Review: August 31, 2025
- Winners Announced via Email: First Week of September
Selection Process
Applications will be reviewed using a weighted scoring system:
- Academic Achievement – 25%
- Boxing Accomplishments – 25%
- Personal Statement – 25%
- Leadership & Community Involvement – 15%
- Financial Need – 10%
Finalists may be contacted for an interview before the final decision.
